Question

How wii I find probability of the experiment is done only one time

Open in App
Solution

Consider the experiment of throwing a fair dice once. And We have to find the probability of getting even number.

First We list all the possible outcomes of the experiment. This will constitute the Sample Space. Let the size of the sample space/ number of possible outcomes be S.

In this case, possible outcomes are { 1,2,3,4,5,6 } . So S=6

Then We list all the possible oucomes that constitue the given event. This will constitute the Event Space. Let the size of the event space be E.

In this case, The event is getting the even number and that is getting any of the {2,4,6} . So E=3

Finally, the probability of that event in the experiment is given by E/S.

In this case, E/S = 3/6 = 1/2.

Note: There is nothing called probability of the experiment. We can find the probability of the outcome (event) of the experiment.
