Question

How will we divide 1 by any mixed fraction?

Open in App
Solution

Suppose
1 ÷ 2(1/4)

So now we will convert 2(1/4) into numerator and denominator

Formula : (whole no. X denominatortor + numerator) / original denominator

So , 2x4+1 / 4
8+1 / 4
9/4

Now, 1 ÷ 9/4
In fraction division we take reciprocal of the no. To the very last right corner and the division sign changes to multiplication sign

So now , 1 x 4/9
Now by doing cross multiplication

We get , 9 / 4

So hence by this calculation we get that any mixed fraction divided by 1 will always be the same fraction itself
