(i) Acetyl chloride to acetaldehyde
(ii) Acetamide to methyl-amine

(i) Acetyl chloride to acetaldehyde

$C{H}_{3}COCl\underset{\underset{Boilingxylene}{BaS{O}_4}}{\overset{H_2/Pd}{\to }}C{H}_{3}CHO$.

(ii) Acetamide to methylamine

$C{H}_{3}CON{H}_2\underset{B{r}_2}{\overset{KOH}{\to }}C{H}_3-N{H}_2$

i) The first reaction is the Rosenmund reduction reaction. Here acyl halide is converted into the corresponding aldehyde.

ii) The second reaction is Hoffmann bromamide reaction. Here the acetamide is converted into amines.
