Question

How will you connect three resistors of resistance 2 Ω, 3 Ω and 6 Ω to obtain a total resistance of : (a) 4 Ω and (b) 1 Ω?

Open in App
Solution

There are three resistors of resistances 2 Ω, 3 Ω, and 6 Ω respectively.

(a) If we connect the given three resistors in the following way then we get net resistance as 4 Ω.

Req=(6||3)+2=6×36+3+2=2+2=4 Ω

(b) If we connect the given three resistors in the following way then we get net resistance as 1 Ω. Here all the resistors are connected in parallel

1Req=12+13+16=3+2+16=1

Req=1 Ω
