• The Nitrobenzene is prepared from Benzene by the process of nitration.
• That is a nitro group substitutes the hydrogen of the aromatic ring compound by reacting with nitric acid and sulphuric acid.
• First in the reaction, nitric acid reacts with sulphuric acid to form nitronium ion$\left({{\mathrm{NO}}_2}^{+}\right)$.
• The Nitronium ion(${{\mathrm{NO}}_2}^{+}$) attacks the benzene ring to form an arenium ion.
• Then the arenium ion loses a proton to form nitrobenzene.
