Potassium chromate on reaction with sulphuric acid gives potassium dichromate.
2K2CrO4(Potassium chromate)+H2SO4K2Cr2O7(Potassium dichromate)+K2SO4+H2O
In the above reaction the colour changes fro yellow to orange red due to formation of potassium dichromate.
