Solution

Dear Student

In the cathode ray experiment the cathode ray or the negatively charged particles emitted from the cathode terminal of the metallic surface, moves under high electric potential to strike over the film present at anode.
To detect the spot over the anode there is coating of phosphorus is done and when the cathode ray strikes over it, the particular area of the phosphorus layer illuminate and hence the spot of striking of the cathode is detected.
