Definition of fossils:

Fossils are the preserved remains of organisms like plants and animals that became buried under water bodies or sediments long ago.

Methods for measuring the age of fossils:

• Various methods measure a fossil’s age. They are the relative one and the carbon dating one. The relative one is discussed below.
• Relative method: This method involves measuring the depth of the earth from where the fossil has been obtained. The older fossils will remain at the deeper section of the earth and the recent ones will be closer to the earth’s surface.
