Question

How will you identify a convex lens, and a concave lens by looking through them?

Open in App
Solution

  • The convex lens always has a magnification of m>1.
  • So, if we look through the convex lens, we will observe an enlarged image of the object we want to see.
  • A concave lens has a magnification of m<1.
  • Thus, we will get a diminished image of the object which we want to observe through a concave lens.
  • Therefore, we can identify the concave lens and concave lens by looking through them as in both cases the object size changes differently.
