Solution

(a)Chloretone from chloroform: Chloroform reacts with acetone in the presence of bass.
(b) Phenyl isocyanides from Chloroform: When chloroform reacts with primary amine example aniline, ethyl amine in presence of alcoholic potassium hydroxide with the production of a bad persistent small compound known as phenyl isocyanide (carbylamine reaction) is formed.

C6H5NH2+CHCl3+3KOHC6H5NC+3KCl+3H2O

(c) Acetylene from chloroform: When chloroform is heated with silver powder, acetylene is produced.

(d) Salicylaldehyde from chloroform: When chloroform is heated with phenol and alcoholic KOH O-salicylaldehyde is produced.
