How will you show that air is dissolved in water?

Open in App
Solution

  • Air dissolved in water has around 36% oxygen, whereas air contains just 21%. The remainder can be classified as nitrogen.
  • Water contains air as well. Aquatic creatures breathe air that is still dissolved in water.
  • When water is boiled, air bubbles can be observed rising from the pan's bottom. This easy practice demonstrates the presence of air in water.
  • Using the following exercise, we can demonstrate that air is dissolved in water:

Procedure:

  • Heat some water in a glass or metal container, such as a pan.
  • Some bubbles will appear on the inner surface of the pan just before the water begins to boil.
  • These bubbles are caused by air dissolved in water.

Thus, this activity shows that sir is present in water.
