Experiment to show unlike charges attract each other:

For this we need a positively charged glass rod (rubbed with a silk piece). It is suspended in a stand with the help of a thread. A negatively charged ebonite rod (rubbed with fur) is brought near the glass rod.

We see the attraction between two rods. This shows unlike charges attract each other.


Experiment to show like charges repel:

Now we take two glass rod A and B rubbed with silk. Rod A is suspended with silk thread and rod B is brought near to rod A. We see that both rods repel each other.

Similarly, if we take two ebonite rods A and B both rubbed with fur and follow the above procedure we will get same result.
