Question

how will you show that silver is less rEACTIVE THAN COPPER AND IRON IS MORE REACTIVE THAN COPPER

Open in App
Solution

The more reactive metal can displace the other from its salts and this can be used to determine which metal is more active.

Silver is less reactive than copper

Copper displaces silver from its salts but silver cannot displace copper from its salts.

Cu + 2AgCl = CuCl2 + 2Ag
Ag + CuCl2 = no reaction

Iron can displace copper from its salts but copper cannot displace iron.

Fe + CuSO4 = FeSO4 + Cu

Cu + FeSO4 no reaction.
