Question

How will you test whether the gas evolved in the reaction is hydrogen?

Open in App
Solution

Hydrogen gas can immediately catch fire followed by the “pop sound”.So we can use this property of hydrogen gas to detect whether the hydrogen gas is getting evolved in a reaction or not.

Procedure:

  1. Bring the burning match stick close to the mouth of the tube evolving the gas.
  2. If it catches the fire accompanied by the “pop sound ” then it is hydrogen gas.

In this way, we can easily test the hydrogen gas evolving in the reaction.
