Question

How would digestion affected if bile duct is blocked?

Open in App
Solution

Blockage of bile duct:

  1. If the bile duct is blocked the bile will be produced from the liver but it will fail to reach the duodenum of the small intestine.
  2. Bile is responsible for the emulsification of fats where large fat globules are converted to small globules.
  3. As the entry of bile is blocked the formation of small fat globules do not occur from the dietary fats.
  4. This is why the proper action of lipase and absorption of lipid does not occur.
