If resources are used in accordance with short term aims, the present generation will be able to utilize the resources properly for growth and development. But if we use resources with long term aims, the future generation will also be able to utilize resources for fulfilling its needs.
The long-term model of resource consumption enables the conservation of the resources for them to be used by future generations. This will enable the economy to grow over a longer timeframe. It also provides more time for technology to advance and discover new, sustainable energy sources (such as nuclear fusion and fuel cells). All in all, the long-term perspective in managing resources has significantly greater advantages when compared to the short-term perspective
Thus it would be better to use our natural resources with a long term perspective so that they could be used by the present generation as well as conserved for future use. But it will deprive future generations of the benefits of these resources as resources are exhaustible.
