Adolescence:

  1. Adolescence informs us about physiological and behavioural changes that occur within our bodies, whether we are a girl or a boy.
  2. Many changes occur within our bodies during the adolescent phase, resulting in reproductive maturity.
  3. The ideal age to begin adolescence is 10 years old, and it can last until 18 to 19 years old, during which time it is referred to as the teenage phase.

Male Adolescent Developmental Changes:

  1. Sperm production begins with the maturation of the testis.
  2. Increased hair growth on the chest.
  3. Enlarge the size of Adam's apple.
  4. Increased voice box size results in a much deeper voice.

Female Adolescent Developmental Changes:

  1. Breast development as a result of mammary gland growth
  2. Hips become rounded in shape.
  3. The ovary begins to release a mature ovum.
  4. Begin the ovulation and menstruation processes.
