How would you determine the average speed in motion?

Open in App
Solution

  1. When an object is in non-uniform motion, its speed keeps on changing.
  2. In such cases, we calculate the average speed of the object.
  3. Average speed is the ratio of the total distance traveled by the object to the total time taken during the journey.
  4. Avergaespeed(vav)=TotaldistancetravelledTotaltimetaken .
  5. The SI unit of average speed is the same as speed, i.e., m s-1.

Hence, with the above formula, we can calculate the average speed in motion.
