Solution

An autotroph or producer is an organism which produces complex organic compounds (such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins) from simple substances present in its surroundings, generally using energy from light or inorganic chemical reactions. Heterotrophs cannot fix carbon and obtain their energy from organic carbon. Human beings being heterotrophs obtain their energy from organic compounds, either from plants or animals.
