At the posterior end of cranium there are two rounded projections called the occipital condyles. They connect the skull with the vertebral column. Hence the skull is called a dicondylic skull.

In the case of birds there is only one occipital condyle. Thus it is monocondylic. There is no such term as tetracondylic skull.
