Solution

Any chemical change in the matter which involves transformation into one or more substances with entirely different properties is known as a chemical reaction.

During the chemical reaction following things can happen:

  • Change of color.
  • Release or absorption of energy in the form of heat, light, and sound.
  • Evolution of gas.

When hydrogen and carbon dioxide react with each other then carbon monoxide is formed along with water so bubbles of the carbon monoxide gas are seen. The following reaction takes place:

H2(g)hydrogen+CO2(g)carbondioxideCO(g)carbonmonoxide+H2O(l)water

Hydrogen and carbon dioxide are gases. If they are formed in a reaction you will see effervescence (bubbles). This can be a sign that a chemical reaction has happened.
