Step 2: Formula used and Calculation

Energy incident =hcλ
Energy incident =hcλ=6.63×1034×3×108975×1010×1.6×1019eV
=12.75 eV

Now,

Energy for 1st orbit is 13.6eV

Energy for 4th orbit is 0.85eV

Difference =12.75eV
The hydrogen atom will be excited to n = 4
Therefore, number of spectral lines =4(41)2=6
