Solution

Hydrogen gas combines with Nitrogen to form Ammonia:

  • The representation of a chemical reaction in the form of a chemical formula with the help of an arrow pointing from reactant to product is called a chemical equation and where the number of atoms of all the elements is equal on both sides of the equation is known as a balanced chemical equation.
  • Here, the law of conservation of mass governs the balancing of a chemical equation.
  • The given chemical reaction is; Hydrogen gas combines with nitrogen to form ammonia.
  • The following chemical reaction takes place when hydrogen gas reacts with nitrogen to form ammonia which can be shown as;

H2(g)Hydrogen+N2(g)NitrogenNH3(g)Ammonia

  • By balancing the equation above, we get can get;

3H2(g)Hydrogen+N2(g)Nitrogen2NH3(g)Ammonia

Hence, the translation of the above following statement into the balanced chemical equation is given as:

3H2(g)Hydrogen+N2(g)Nitrogen2NH3(g)Ammonia
