Question

hydrogen gas on combustion produced a lot of heat. Why fossil fuels should not be replaced with hydrogen gas ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

We cannot make a replacement because the flammability range of hydrogen is quite wide as compared to that of fossil fuels and under optimal combustion conditions, the energy required to initiate hydrogen combustion is very low, i.e. a single spark would ignite it. It is difficult to store and will not be an economical process.
