Question

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) on reacting with an aqueous solution of metal salts converts them to ---------------

Open in App
Solution

Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) reacting with an aqueous solution of metal salts converts them to Metal sulphide.

Example:- Aqueous solution of Copper sulphate (CuSO4) react with Hydrogen sulphide(H2S) gives a black precipitate of Copper sulphide (CuS) and Sulphuric acid (H2SO4)

CuSO4(Coppersulphate(aq))+H2S(Hydrogensulphide(g))CuS(Blackppt(s))+H2SO4(Sulphuuricacid(aq))

Therefore Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) reacting with an aqueous solution of metal salts converts them to Metal sulphide with colour.
