Hypothalamus is known as the conductor of the hormone orchestra. It secretes inhibiting and releasing hormones which act upon the anterior pituitary gland. CRH and GnRH from the hypothalmus stimulates the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) & luteinizing hormone (LH) respectively. Dopamine, also known as the prolactin inhibiting hormone inhibits prolactin and hence, milk production.
