Solution

The correct option is A Goitre
Goitre is the enlargement of thyroid gland when there is less secretion of thyroid hormone. It generally occurs due to deficiency of iodine in diet due to which less thyroxine is synthesised as thyroxine needs iodine and tyrosine for its synthesis. The thyroid gland gets hyperactive to compensate the deficiency of thyroxine and is visible as a swelling in the throat known as goitre. During pregnancy, thyroid gland gets enlarged and leads to goitre. Even after getting enlarged and hyperactive, thyroid gland produces less thyroxine hormone.
So, the correct answer is 'Goitre'.
