The correct option is E $x = y$ or relationship cannot be established
Equation I
$2 x^{2} + 18 x + 40 = 0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x^{2} + 10 x + 8 x + 40 = 0$
$\Rightarrow 2 x (x + 5) + 8 (x + 5) = 0$
$\Rightarrow (2 x + 8) (x + 5) = 0$
$∴ x = - 4, x = - 5$
Equation II
$2 y^{2} + 15 y + 27 = 0$
$\Rightarrow 2 y^{2} + 9 y + 6 y + 27 = 0$
$\Rightarrow y (2 y + 9) + 3 (2 y + 9) = 0$
$∴ y = - 3, y = - \frac{9}{2}$
Hence, relationship cannot be established.
