(i) In a gear system, the wheel on which effort is applied is called driving gear and other one is called driven gear. If number of teeth are more in driving gear than the driven gear, then we gain in speed.
(ii) Given: $E = 50 N, L = 120 N, V . R = 3$ (No. of pulleys in system).
Mechanical Advantage (M.A.) $= \frac{L o a d}{E f f o r t} = \frac{120}{50} = 2.4$
Efficiency $= \frac{Mechanical Advantage}{Velocity Ratio} \times 100 %$
$= \frac{2.4}{3} \times 100 = \frac{240}{3} = 80 %$ .
