Question

I cant understand the formula of calculating weight i.e weight =m*g.what is m and g. Why are rest and motion relative terms.

Open in App
Solution

Weight =Mass * acceleration due to gravity
m = mass
g= acceleration due to gravity. (9.8 m/sec2 on earth)
Mass is fundamental measure of the amount of matter in the object, it does not depend on gravity of the planet.

The weight of an object is the force of gravity on the object.

Rest and motion are relative terms because they depend on the observer's frame of reference. ... So if two different observers are not at rest with respect to each other, then they too get different results when they observe the motion or restof a body.

Hope this helps :)
