(i) Define temperature and give its unit.
(ii) Suppose a body ‘A’ at a higher temperature is brought into contact with another body ‘B’ at a lower temperature. Will the temperature of B increase? Explain.

(i) Temperature is the degree of the hotness or coldness of a body.
Degree Celcius ( C), degree Fahrenheit ( F) and Kelvin(K) are the units of temperature.
[ 1 mark ]

(ii) Yes, the temperature of ‘B’ will increase. Heat flows from high temperature to a low temperature. Since body ‘A’ is at high temperature, heat from A will flow to body B.
Due to this flow of heat, the temperature of A will decrease and temperature of B will increase until they reach the same temperature.
[ 2 marks ]
