Question

(i) Find the area of a rectangle of length 98 m and breadth 18 m.
(ii) Find the length of each side of a square whose area is equal to the area of the rectangle in (i)

(i) Given, length = 98m
Breadth = 18m
Area of rectangle = length × breadth
=98×18
=1764 m2

(ii) Given, area of square = area of rectangle = 1764m2
Area of square = (side)2
1764=(side)2
Side=1764=42 m
Therefore the length of the side of the square = 42 m.
