Question

(i) Find the value of 204×206 using identities.
(ii) Find the value of 9922 using suitable identities.

(i) Here, 204×206=(200+4)×(200+6)

(x+a)(x+b)=x2+(a+b)x+ab

We can use the above identity to solve this question
where x=200,a=4,b=6 ( 0.5 marks )

So, 204×206=(200+4)×(200+6)

=2002+(4+6)×200+(4×6)

=40000+2000+24

=42024 (0.5 marks)

(ii) Here, 9922=(10008)2

It is of the form (ab)2=a22ab+b2

where, a = 1000 and b = 8 ( 0.5 marks )

So, 9922

=(10008)2

=100022×1000×8+82

=100000016000+64

=984064 (0.5 marks)
