I. Given equation is x + 3y = 5.
$\Rightarrow x = 5 - 3 y (By transposing 3y to RHS)$
Again, x + 3y = 5
$\Rightarrow 3 y = 5 - x (By transposing \times to RHS)$
$\Rightarrow y = \frac{(5 - x)}{3}$
II. When x = 2
$y = \frac{(5 - x)}{3} = \frac{(5 - 2)}{3} = \frac{3}{3} = 1$
