I gave four toffees each to four of my friends and three toffees are left with me. How many toffees did I have?

Number of friends = 4
Number of toffees given to each friend = 4
Total number of toffees given = 4 $\times$ 4 = 16
Number of toffees left with me = 3

Total number of toffees
= Total number of toffees given + Number of toffees left
= 16 + 3
= 19 toffees

Therefore total number of toffees I had = 19 toffees
