I have 14 apples with me of which ${\frac{2}{7}}^{th}$ of them were spoilt. After selling off some of them, I was left with ${\frac{1}{5}}^{th}$ of the fresh apples. Half of the remaining apples were eaten up by my wife.

Let us start with 14 apples of which
$14\times \frac{2}{7}$ = 4 apples were spoilt.
So, I am left with 10 apples. After selling them in the market
$10\times \frac{1}{5}$ = 2 apples were left. Half of two apples would be
$2\frac{1}{2}$ = 1 apple, which was eaten up by my wife.
So, I am left with 1 apple.
