I have two questions to ask:
1) write the significance of the process of diffusion and osmosis for living organisms.
2)when a deshelled egg is placed in:
A) concentrated solution of salt and sugar , it shrinks why
B) when it is kept in pure water it swells why
Since the egg is losing water, it will shrink. In other words, the egg is not actually losing any material … other than water.
B) when it is kept in pure water it swells beacuse it gain water through process of osmosis.
Hope this will help you and you will mark it as brainliest .
1) Diffusion is the tendency of molecules to spread out in order to occupy an available space. Gasses and molecules in a liquid have a tendency to diffuse from a more concentrated environment to a less concentrated environment. Passive transport is the diffusion of substances across a membrane.
Biologists often use the terms "net movement" or "net diffusion" to describe the movement of ions or molecules by diffusion. For example, oxygen can diffuse through cell membranes and if there is a higher concentration of oxygen outside the cell than inside, oxygen molecules diffuse into the cell.
Osmosis (Greek word for ‘push’) is the movement of water between two solutions separated by a membrane which is permeable to water and less permeable or impermeable to the substance (solute) in solution.
