I heard that the boiling point of liquid oxygen is -183 degree celsius what does the minus sign indicate here

Open in App
Solution

- ve sign indicates that less than 0.
Boilinv point is the temperature at which a thing changes from liquid state to gaseous state
First u need to understand boiling point not alway a greater value
Of course for water it is high
at 100°c .it is because the normal and stable state of water is liquid.so more heat is needed to convert iti to gas
But oxygen .
normal state is gaseous.
So it is unstable in liquid amd try to be in gaseous...so a little temperature is require
Can we see liquid oxygen anywhere surrounding ,becUse its will be in gaseous form

Actually -183 °c ,at that much cold temperature, oxygen get converted to gaseous state
