Insert 3 eqivalent rational numbers between $\frac{- 1}{2}$ and $\frac{1}{5}$ .

Solution

Given rational numbers are - $\frac{1}{2}$ and $\frac{1}{5}$
For common denominator, LCM of 2 and 5 = 10
$∴ \frac{- 1 \times 5}{2 \times 5} = \frac{- 5}{10}$ and $\frac{1 \times 2}{5 \times 2} = \frac{2}{10}$
Hence, three equivalent rational numbers between $\frac{- 5}{10} a n d \frac{2}{10} a r e \frac{- 3}{10}, \frac{- 6}{20}, \frac{- 9}{30}$ .
