Solution

The correct option is C (I), (IV)
A. Intercalary meristem is the meristem present in between the regions of permanent tissues. It may be present at the base of the internode or at the base of leaf such as in grasses. Intercalary meristem is responsible for the linear growth of the plants.
B. Parenchyma tissue in aquatic plants is called aerenchyma. It has air cavities that make aquatic plants light and buoyant and help them to float on water. For example- Hydrilla.
C. Sclereids are dead cells with a small lumen. These are found in the hard parts of the plant and provide mechanical strength.
D. The loss of water in liquid form from the uninjured tips of the leaves is called guttation. It occurs in the early morning and late evening when the root pressure is high due to active absorption of water and transpiration is less. It occurs through hydathodes which are stomata like pores present on the tips of the plants.
Hence, combinations I and IV are correct.
So, the correct answer is C.
