Water harvesting:

Water harvesting is the process of collecting and storing rainwater.

(i) Water Harvesting Structure in Various Aspects are:

  1. Farm ponds - are utilized for multipurpose surface storage. It's also used to supplement groundwater.
  2. Percolation tanks at suitable locations based on geological factors
  3. Roof water harvesting tank—to collect rainwater utilizing the roof as a catchment system.
  4. Wells are artificially recharged.
  5. Evaporation management in surface water bodies

(ii)The advantages of storing water in the ground are as follows:

  1. It doesn't go away.
  2. It replenishes nearby wells.
  3. It keeps the vegetation hydrated.
  4. It does not provide mosquito breeding grounds, like stagnant water in lakes and ponds does.
  5. It is relatively free of animal and human waste contamination.
  6. It is advantageous to the local inhabitants.
