(i)

  1. The first human-like hominid was Homo habilis also known as a handyman.
  2. They had a brain capacity of 680 cc and ate meat. They used to either snatch the food from predators or do the hunting by using basic stone tools.


(ii) Characteristics of Homo habilis :
1. They were 120-150 cm tall having a large brain that had a cranial capacity of 680 cc.
2. Walked in an erect posture and stayed on the grassy land.
3. They were omnivorous and capable of making simple tools.
