Solution

(i) The phenomenon involved in tuning a radio set to a particular station is called "resonance'.

(ii) Definition of the above phenomenon:

  1. Resonance is the phenomenon in which amplitude will rise due to impinging of two same frequency waves.
  2. There are a number of 'radio stations', sending different frequencies; when we tune our radio by varying the capacitance in the radio circuit;
  3. When the frequency of the radio circuit will equal to the frequency that comes from the radio station then ‘resonance’ will occur;
  4. And the circuit will absorb more energy from this impinging frequency than other stations' frequencies.
