Question

(i) Raj has 18 playing cards and Joe has 39 playing cards, then Find the common factors of 18 and 39. Also, find their HCF.
(ii) Show that the sum of all the common factors of 18 and 39 is a composite number.

(i) Factors of 18 are 1,2, 3,6, 9 and 18.
Factors of 39 are 1, 3, 13 and 39.
Therefore, common factors of 18 and 39 are 1 and 3.
Highest common factor among the 1 and 3 is 3.

(ii) Sum of all the common factors is 1 + 3 = 4
Factors of 4 are 1, 2 and 4
Therefore, 4 is a composite number as it has more than 2 factors.
