Rosenmund's reaction :When acid chloride reacts with H2 in the presence of Pd−BaSO4, acetaldehyde will be formed. It's a hydrogenolysis reaction which is catalysed by palladium on barium sulfate. Barium sulfate has a low surface area which reduces the activity of palladium.
