Rosenmund's reaction :When acid chloride reacts with H2 in the presence of PdBaSO4, acetaldehyde will be formed. It's a hydrogenolysis reaction which is catalysed by palladium on barium sulfate. Barium sulfate has a low surface area which reduces the activity of palladium.

(2) RCNSnCl2/HCl−−−−−−H2ORCHO
This describes the preparation of aldehyde from nitriles with the help of tin (II) chloride and hydrochloric acid. This reaction called stephen's reaction.
