Rosenmund's reaction :When acid chloride reacts with $H_{2}$ in the presence of $P d - B a S O_{4}$ , acetaldehyde will be formed. It's a hydrogenolysis reaction which is catalysed by palladium on barium sulfate. Barium sulfate has a low surface area which reduces the activity of palladium.

(2) $R - C N S n C l_{2} / H C l - ------ \to H_{2} O R C H O$
This describes the preparation of aldehyde from nitriles with the help of tin (II) chloride and hydrochloric acid. This reaction called stephen's reaction.
