Solution

Let the total money is Rs. x
Money spent on the dress =x8

Money spent on a book =x5

Remaining amount =xx8x5
=40x5x8x40
=27x40

13 of this remaining amount is spent on a toy.

Now, the remaining amount =27x4013×27x40
=27x409x40

=27x9x40

=18x40

Now, Rs.18x40 are used to buy three notepads.

So, price of one notepad =13×18x40
=6x40

=3x20

So, 320 of the total money was the cost of each notepad.
