(i) Gauss' law : According to this law, the total flux linked with a closed surface called Gaussian surface, (the surface need not be a real physical surface, it can also be an hypothetical one) is (1ϵ0) times the charge enclosed by the closed surface i.e., ϕ=∮s→ϵ.−→dA=1ϵ0(Qenc) (ii) When a point charge is kept at equatorial line of an electric dipole, its electric potential is zero. Potential at point P due to charge +q,V1=14πϵ0KqBP Potential at point P due to charge −q, V2=14πϵ0KqAP Resultant electric potential at point P,V=V1+V2 V=14πϵ0KqBP−14πϵ0KqAP ∴V=0[∵BP=AP]
