Question

I: The boiling point of H2O is higher than the boiling point of H2S.
II: H2S
has a greater molecular mass than H2O.

Solution

(I) Boiling point of H2O is higher than H2S due to high electronegativity of O. It makes intermolecular H-bonding with H of other water molecules. Hence, true.
(II) H2S has greater molecular mass than H2O.
Molecular mass;
H2S=2+32=34 g/mol
H2O=2+16=18 g/mol
This is due to the more atomic number of S than O.
