I visited a grocery store to buy some food items, the moment I reached at the bill counter, the person processing the bill for me asked whether I needed a plastic bag and if I did then I would have to pay extra, when I asked him a reason for doing this, what might be the possible reason he gave me?
It is non biodegradable in nature.
Plastics are non biodegradable; it is very difficult to dispose them. Since plastic takes several years to decompose, it is not environment friendly. It causes environmental pollution. Besides, the burning process in the synthetic material is quite slow and it does not get completely burnt easily. So if we are made to pay extra for a plastic bag then probably with time the use of plastic bags would decrease and pose fewer problems for the disposal.
